The documented origins of this town date back to 1191, when it is named for the first time as "Fundum Sancti Mauri." In 1378 it belonged to the territory of Savignano, then it passed to the family of the Malatestas and subsequently to the Zampeschis. In 1932 in name of St. Mauro of Romagna, the name was modified in St. Mauro Pascoli, in honor of the great poet Giovanni Pascoli (1855 - 1912) born in the Estate Torlonia. Almost entirely destroyed during the second World war, the front stagnated all the rivers Use and Rubicone for different weeks.
