At the southern-most point of the Emilia Romagna’s region shoreline in northern Italy, lies a gem of the Adriatic Riviera - the thriving holiday resort of Cattolica. Cattolica lies in a sheltered inlet protected by the Gabicce promontory, making the three kilometres of beach particularly calm. In Cattolica you will find pleasant, shaded streets of the old town, pretty squares with fountains, a fishing harbour and above the resort is the imposing castle of Gradara.
Holiday visitors spend their days shopping in elegant stores and boutiques, lunching along the sunny promenade, taking a ride through town on the mini tourist train, and enjoying the sun, sand and sea of the beach. On the outskirts of Cattolica is ‘Le Navi’, a theme park dedicated to all things associated with the sea, where you and your family can ‘time travel’ to the origins of the oceans. Another great day trip is the Natural Park of Monte San Bartolo which features archaeological remains, the layout of villas and Renaissance gardens and beautiful sea views.
